Hurricane Guide
Don't bet on finding a hotel when the storm comes
During hurricane season in Florida, many people may look to hotels for a place to stay if they fear their home is in the path of a storm.
But most hotels operate without any special reservation lists during hurricane season.
If you plan to book a night or two at a hotel, check into a few things:
• Some hotels don't have backup generators and will have to shut down if they lose power because fire systems won't work.
• Almost all hotels have a 24-hour cancellation policy.
If you make a reservation a few days before the storm is suspected to hit, make sure you call to cancel your reservation before the last minute, or you may be charged.
